"CHARLES, it's just me," shares the young 23-year-old singer when asked who Charles really is. She borrowed this stage name from her maternal grandfather, whom she carries with her throughout this wild adventure that began in 2019.
With her first two projects, the EP Falling While Rising (2021) and the album Until We Meet Again (2022), Charles develops her stories and introduces herself to the public by drawing from Anglo-Saxon influences—both in fresh, alternative pop sounds from elsewhere and in her English lyrics that boldly tackle the subjects they embody.
The themes she explores are always her own stories or those of her loved ones, which she experiences vicariously. As close to reality as possible, spontaneous and unfiltered, CHARLES handles her topics with the raw and harsh words they require, without metaphors or sugarcoating. Singing about her struggles remains her only way to let go of them.
More driven by urgency than by naïve exploration, CHARLES approaches her music like a burning and incendiary diary—naturally captivating to read.
She is back with a new project: "Sabotage", named after the feeling of having drawn and played the wrong cards over the years. This project stands as a chaotic, formative, and tumultuous coming-of-age story, yet it leans toward hope and the transformation of CHARLES into a strong woman, shaped by the experiences and melodramas of her early twenties.
She finally bursts her bubble, letting it explode in our faces and hearts.
