Hailing from the transcultural cauldron named Paris, the formidable Franco-Algerian collective results from the encounter between Pierre-Yves Casanova, Nicolas Borne, Hervé Carvalho, Guido Minisky and Kenzi Bourras. Thanks to its irresistible blend of powerful electronic music and Arabic and Middle Eastern sounds, the Parisian group has set stages ablaze and conquered French and international audiences.
Aiming to create a space for Arab culture in the world of contemporary electronic music, Acid Arab’s members have patiently refined their style through their travels and numerous collaborations with artists from the Mediterranean region.
After a series of compilations released as EPs on the Versatile label, they sign with Crammed Discs and release their impressive first album, “Musique de France”, in 2016. The group then performs hundreds of times, in more than fifty countries across four continents. “Jdid”, the second album, is released at the end of 2019.
Acid Arab’s highly anticipated third album will be released in February 2023. Titled “٣ (Trois)”, it consists of ten dancefloor bangers, as many gems that will also provide delicious listening experiences in calmer contexts (headphones, living room…), thanks to sophisticated production and intriguing and varied performances by eight invited singers from North Africa, Syria and Turkey, including Cem Yldiz, Cheb Halim, Sofiane Saidi and Rachid Taha.
From Algerian gasba to Anatolian trance, via synthetic dabkeh, bionic raï and many other real or imaginary styles, Acid Arab has incorporated a range of colors, breaking genre boundaries. Their sumptuous new album allows them to push limits and expand their musical territories even further.
