Benjamin Haggerty, known by his stage name Macklemore, is a Multi-platinum and GRAMMY award winning rapper who has made history as an independent artist with a combination of commercial success, critical acclaim and international appeal. Macklemore rose to fame with Ryan Lewis and their independently produced 2012 record, The Heist, became one of the biggest albums on the 21st Century, featuring two diamond singles, “Can’t Hold Us” feat. Ray Dalton, and “Thrift Shop” feat. Wanz. Since then, Macklemore has released several chart topping albums and singles, garnering billions of streams and views, and growing a massive global fan base.

 

A lifelong Seattle resident, Macklemore has always believed in using his platform, resources and creative pursuits to have an impact on racial and social justice issues. Macklemore is a co-founder of The Residency, a hip hop and youth development program that has become one of the preeminent opportunities for young aspiring artists in the region. Drawing on his personal battles with drugs and alcohol, he has regularly raised awareness around issues of addiction and recovery. More recently, he has become of the most visible voices in the entertainment industry to stand against the genocide in Palestine.  Hinds Hall, released in 2024, has become a powerful anthem in support of Palestinian freedom and justice.
