Born from the transcultural melting pot that is Paris, this remarkable Franco-Algerian collective emerged from the meeting of Pierre-Yves Casanova, Nicolas Borne, Hervé Carvalho, Guido Minisky and Kenzi Bourras. Thanks to its irresistible blend of powerful electronic music and Arabic and Middle Eastern sounds, the Parisian group has set stages on fire and won over audiences both in France and internationally.
Aiming to create space for Arab culture within the world of contemporary electronic music, the members of Acid Arab have patiently refined their style through their travels and numerous collaborations with artists from across the Mediterranean region.
After a series of compilations released as EPs on the Versatile label, they signed with Crammed Discs and released their impressive debut album, “Musique de France”, in 2016. Following this, the group performed several hundred times in more than fifty countries across four continents. Their second album, “Jdid”, was released at the end of 2019.
Acid Arab’s highly anticipated third album was released in February 2023. Entitled “٣ (Trois)”, it consists of ten dancefloor-ready bangers — just as enjoyable in more intimate listening contexts (headphones, living room...) thanks to sophisticated production and intriguing, diverse performances by eight guest singers from North Africa, Syria and Turkey, including Cem Yldiz, Cheb Halim, Sofiane Saidi and Rachid Taha.
From Algerian gasba to Anatolian trance, passing through synthetic dabkeh, bionic raï and many other styles — real or imagined — Acid Arab incorporates a wide palette of sounds, breaking down boundaries between genres. Their sumptuous new album allows them to push the limits even further and expand their musical territories.
